JADS - WELCOME

Hasketon Youth Club (JADS) is run by and for the young people of Haskeston and its neighbourhood. Our young people have the major say in the way the club is run, supported by professional staff and dedicated volunteers. This, the first of Just42’s rural clubs was started with the 'aims to reduce the isolation of young people living in or near Hasketon by providing a club where they can meet in safety in a welcoming environment and to enjoy a range of activities and a place where they can meet their friends.'

The club is financed by the collection of subscriptions fees. While these fees are important, they alone will only cover a small portion of the amount needed to run the club week by week. It is for this reason that we need to continually seek support from funding bodies, charitable foundations and the local community.

What can you expect at the club?

When you arrive you will be made very welcome. The club will provide you with the opportunity for fun activities, good laughs, meaningful discussions, informal social education and the chance to just chill out and chat with existing friends and hopefully new ones. Through support, encouragement, listening, and creating opportunities for personal development and growth, we continually strive to offer something meaningful and special to those who attend. We believe that JADS offers quality time and space for young people, and helps make a positive contribution to their lives.

We are continually trying to improve provision. At the moment we have the the following activities available. In winter we have music, films, tuck-shop, table tennis, mini-football, indoor hockey, table football, Curling stones, pool/snooker,  X-box, PS2 and Wii. In addition in the summer (the lighter nights) we can use the village playing field. Cricket, football, rounders and wide-games are all played regularly. If you can think of other games to play we are always open to suggestion. End of term trips and themed nights? For further dates and information please see our NEWSLETTER

We regularly add to an already busy evening by providing the materials to make some food. Past events have included a film night, pizza night, giant banana split and a smoothie making evening. The trips we have undertaken as a club have included ten-pin bowling, tobogganing, two weeks living as an iron age man/woman, learning the skills to survive and African Adventure with team games, walks, tasks, rope walking and archery. What new events we can do in the future is only limited by your imagination.
